A billboard has one job and about three seconds to do it. It has to be in the right place, at the right size, with a message a driver can read at speed. The Philadelphia region has plenty of billboards and more coming. Choosing the ones that matter to you is the hard part. We plan the roads, negotiate the space and design the ad for how people pass it, so the right drivers read your message.

Billboards and signs cover more than the big highway boards: digital boards in Center City, bus and train ads, airport displays, screens where people wait or shop, event sponsorships and your own building. A casino wants a board on the route to its door; a law firm, a commuter road. You get a mix that reaches your customers on the way to your door.

The region has clear main roads. I-95 runs through Philadelphia, Delaware County and Bucks County. I-76 and the Vine Street Expressway carry city traffic. I-476, US 30, US 202 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike serve the suburbs. Route 70, Route 38 and I-295 lead into Camden County. Long commutes across Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties are why roadside billboards can work for suburban brands. You get billboards on your customers’ commute.

We handle the whole job. We choose the locations, ask the sign companies for offers, compare them and book the ones that fit. We also plan sponsorships and event marketing when your goal is to be seen at a venue instead of on a road. For signs, we design pieces that read well from a distance. You get one team that books it all, so you make one call instead of four.

Parx Casino’s roadside billboard is part of our work, and the casino has relied on us for media strategy and buying for many years. We can help you find the available billboards, and we confirm board availability and price before we quote. Before you commit, we also check which local zoning and state rules apply.

How we buy it

What we buy
Billboards, digital billboards, ads on buses and trains, screens and signs in places people wait or shop, event marketing, sponsorships and signs.
Where it runs
The roads your customers drive, such as I-95, I-76, I-476, US 30, US 202, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Route 1 and Route 70, plus Center City digital billboards, transit ads and venue sponsorships.
How we negotiate
We ask several sign companies for offers on the sites your customers pass, compare them and confirm the details of each location before booking. We negotiate each client’s buy on its own.
What you get back
A list of every location booked with its dates, and proof that the ad went up as planned, so you know your message ran where and when you paid for it.

“We’ve been working with the team at Baldini Communications for many years here at Parx Casino because they are terrific partners.”

Carrie Nork Minelli, Director of Advertising, Parx Casino

What you get

  • You get in front of commuters and visitors on the roads and at the venues where they spend time.
  • You pick billboards by road and audience, not by whichever sign company calls first.
  • You get a message designed to be read in seconds, at speed.
  • You get signs, sponsorships and events planned with the billboards, so every touchpoint matches.
  • You see proof that the ad went up where and when it should.

How a campaign runs

  1. 1 We talk through what you are promoting, where your customers travel and where you need to be seen.
  2. 2 We map the roads and venues that fit, and we ask sign companies for offers on the strongest sites.
  3. 3 We compare the offers, confirm each location’s details and recommend the mix.
  4. 4 We design the ad for the size and reading distance of each site and send it for approval.
  5. 5 We book the space, confirm the ad went up and review the run with you.

Billboards that drive to your customers

Brandwagon, our sister company, runs LED billboard trucks around Philadelphia. Your ad plays on a screen that moves with the crowd and parks outside the stadium, the grand opening or the event. We can plan the trucks alongside your fixed boards.

What happens next

Our work for Chickie’s & Pete’s, Parx Casino and Villari Brandes & Giannone goes back more than a decade.

  1. 1

    Tell us what you’re launching

Use the form or call 215-870-5548. A few lines is enough — what you’re promoting, where your customers are, and when it needs to run.

  2. 2

    We talk it through

We call you back to ask about your goals and your budget. The first conversation costs nothing, and if another approach suits you better, we’ll say so.

  3. 3

You see the plan before anything runs

You get where your ads will run, the schedule and what it costs, in writing. Nothing is booked until you approve it, and afterwards you see where every piece ran.

Out of Home Advertising: common questions

What counts as out-of-home advertising?

Out of home advertising is any ad people see outside their homes. That includes billboards, digital billboards, ads on buses and trains, airport displays, stadium and venue signs, event sponsorships and the signs on a business itself. We plan and buy across all of these. The right mix depends on where your customers travel and what you are trying to get them to do.

Which highways and areas do you consider for billboards?

It depends on your audience. In the Philadelphia market the main roads include I-95, I-76, the Vine Street Expressway, I-476, US 30, US 202 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and Route 70, Route 38 and I-295 into Camden County. We look at who drives each one and whether it gets people to your door, then ask sign companies for offers on the sites that make sense.

Can you help with event marketing and sponsorships?

Yes. Event marketing and sponsorships are part of out of home advertising. If your goal is to be visible at a venue, a block party or a sporting event, we can plan the sponsorship, negotiate the terms and design the signs and materials. We also look at whether a sponsorship truly fits your audience before recommending it.

How do you check rules for billboard placement?

Billboards along state routes and interstates fall under PennDOT, and local zoning applies too. In New Jersey, NJDOT and local zoning apply. We do not guess. Before you commit to a location, we confirm with the sign company and the relevant authority what applies to that specific site, so you are not surprised after you have booked.

Is a billboard worth it for a business that is not on a highway?

Sometimes. Local roads, ads on buses and trains, venue signs and digital billboards in busy districts can put you in front of people near your location. A billboard on a commuter road can also help a business that sits a few miles off it. We look at how your customers move around and recommend the format that fits, even if that is not a highway board.

What do I get to see after the campaign is booked?

You get a list of each location with its dates, and proof that your ad was posted. We review the run with you when it ends and talk about what to change next time. We do not offer invented figures for how many people saw it. We show you what went up and where, and you decide what to renew.

Tell us where your customers drive and we will map the billboards.
